For the debut single of a new artist, “Waterproof” is excitingly mature and unpretentious with its straightforward radio-friendliness. At the same time, Lyel saves enough delicacy in her pop-appeal never to go too far in her catchiness.
This way, the Helsinki-based singer Lyel makes it difficult to guess where she’ll go from now on, and that only makes her more intriguing. We should get the first clue about this in fall though, when her first EP will come out.
