Deeply concealed emotions seem to be the theme running through Valdimar’s video for “Út úr þögninni” (“Out of Silence”), a song from their excellent last year’s record, “Batnar útsýnið”.
The story unfolds in a discreet fashion, speaking through metaphors and symbols, and featuring some beautiful landscapes, filmed on location in Reykjavik and surrounding areas.
The setting fits Valdimar’s music perfectly. “Út úr þögninni” is one of many slow-burners on the album. Starting inconspicuously, it gradually builds up tension, until the horn section kicks in with full force, leading to a cathartic finale.
