We’re impressed with the musical evolution of the 19 year old musician/rapper S10.
You might have spotted her records Lithium and Snowpiper in the year lists of beehype in 2018 and 2019. Her new single “Ogen Wennen Altijd Aan Het Donker” (“Eyes Will Always Get Used To The Dark”) is, contrary to her more hip-hop influenced previous work, a sparsely produced lullaby that combines beautiful vocals with oozing piano play.
The song reminds us a bit of Kate Bush or FKA twigs. Lyrically S10 bucks us up with a fitting message for these stressful times. The only thing we dislike about the song, is that it lasts just two and a half minute. Hopefully S10 will be releasing more new music later this year.
