In her early song “Marunouchi Sadistic“, popular Japanese female musician Shiina Ringo sang about passionate love for Benzie who is the vocalist and guitarist of SHERBETS.

Benzie, real name Kenichi Asai, was born in Nagoya, and formed alternative rock band BLANKEY JET CITY in 1990 in Tokyo, which broke up in 2000. Since then, Benzie has been a member of several unique projects, and above, he plays in another alternative group, SHERBETS.

This year, the group released their 11th album titled “CRASHED SEDAN DRIVE” on his own label Sexy Stones Records. Minimal and at the same time aggressive single “Stealth” is the first cut off this album.

Influenced by 60’s blues, 70’s gram rock, psychobilly, even Bossa Nova, Latin folk, Jazz, and many other genres, Benzie keeps singing about what is happening now and what people in Japan think about it.
