Four great names of the İstanbul scene had a music camp together, and here’s the result.
In the last quarter of 2020, four highly talented musicians from the İstanbul scene made a 21-day-camp together, very much like American garage gatherings of old bands. They announced that this camping session would finalize with an album released at the beginning of 2021.
Fruit of this camp, “EVDE“, is an extra-ordinary album because it consists of four musician friends who put together their musical strengths together in an album. Sedef Sebüktekin, Canozan, Nova Norda, and Birkan Nasuhoğlu, all of whom were mentioned on beehype before, are the Power Rangers of this project. There are eight songs in “EVDE”, and as you can guess, each of these names singing two of these songs.
The first video of the project came for “Bir Yol Buldum (I found a way) and was directed by Can Özen. You will get a CSI İstanbul feeling while watching this short action movie. Our Ninja Turtles are rebelling against authority in the film, and there is one strong sentence is backing this feel mentioned both in the song and in the video: “Yıktılar çünkü yıkmak yapmaktan daha kolay.” (They destroy because destroying is easier than building.)
When we look at the names behind the song (similar to all other pieces in the project), we will almost see a totally “do it yourself” method. These Four Musketeers wrote the lyrics together, composed and arranged the song together, played and recorded instruments together, sang together. They just outsourced the mastering process, which Dinçer Demirci handled.
We are lucky to have one of the best albums of the year at the very beginning of 2021. The ideas and ways of creating this album are at least as great as the album’s musical power.
